The Assessment - RDA
The Relationship Development Assessment or RDA, is how the consultant determines present levels of relationship capabilities. The assessment is not a “test”, but involves the parent and child in open-ended engagements that create opportunities for joint attention, coordination, and cooperation.
The assessment is conducted in several stages. All engagements are captured on video because we use video data for analysis. Completion of the RDA may take 2 weeks to up to a month depending on scheduling needs.
What to expect during the assessment and delivery of the report.
- RDA 1 – Each parent participates individually with their child (if a two parent home). The session may last between 20-45 min. Booked as a one hour appointment for set up and tear down.
- RDA 2 – This stage is between the consultant and the child. From the data collected from RDA 1, the consultant tests out where the child’s “edge” is in the guiding relationship. This is also booked as a one hour appointment.
- Report findings – Information from the parent intake form, the relationship development questionnaire, an obstacles assessment, and the video data from RDA 1 and 2, is complied and presented in a written report. Video footage samples from the assessment is also presented as supporting evidence for planned objectives. This is booked as a one hour appointment.
- Assessments are conducted every 6 months to 1 year depending on what phase the family is in.
